Quiet Book

This book was definitely a learning experience! Lot's of hours went into creating this little baby! And I think I might have sat at the computer looking at ideas longer than I actually worked on the book! There are SO many creative people out there in the blogging world, it makes my head hurt! (Here's where I got some inspiration...check out this ONE and this ONE)

Although I am pleased with how it turned out, it is full of imperfections (which really drive me nuts). If I had more time I could pour dozens of hours into sprucing it up...but we're leaving for Utah tomorrow and I must hand deliver it to my sister's cute little kiddies (it's supposed to be their Christmas present, I'm horrible). I'm counting on them not noticing things like how the pages are different sizes! Anyways, here it is...

Front cover with velcro strap

Pick the apples and play with the animal finger puppets

Close the doors

 Puzzles

Count the animals and make a flower arrangement

Build the burger (the pieces velcro off) and style the girl's hair

Find essential's in the purse and play tic tac toe

And a little pocket in the back for the extra stuff

I hope they like it. If I can gather the time and energy I might make one for Eden too!

My Life in France

I can't believe it's taken me this long to get around to posting this book review. I really enjoyed getting to know the life of Julia Child. It wasn't quite a page turner, but it was fun and interesting. It made my mouth water and inspired me to try some French Cuisine (although she did favor some dishes that I would never ever consider putting in my mouth). I also thought it was so wonderful that she found her passion and talent for cooking later in life. It gave me realize that learning should never have to stop.

I joined my sister's book club and My Life in France was the book they read for November. I'm really looking forward to next year's reads, they should be good! Stay tuned for reviews...

Jammies for Eden

These are so easy and cute...I think I better make her a few more pairs.

A Quilt for Brian

Brian is the king of collecting free t-shirts. So, I thought this quilt would be a good idea for preserving them (and creating some space in his drawers). It still needs to be tied, but I love how it turned out!

Thankful Blocks

One 2x4, a handy grandpa to cut it into blocks, some crafters paint and letters printed, cut out with an exacto knife and used as stencils. Pretty easy and I love how they turned out!

A Nursing Cover

This one is for my sister in law expecting her first in a few weeks. I used mine with Eden for the first six or seven months and it was great! So nice when you're out in public. There are TONS of tutorials out there, but I usually do my own thing. I hope she likes it.

A Few of My Latest Projects...

I'm not sure if anyone besides family even looks at my blog, but I thought I would document a few things I've been up to lately. Most importantly so I can remember that I have actually been productive in my spare time! :)

A little skirt...

(Plus an almost identical skirt we passed onto our two year old cousin because it was too small for my girl...mind you she is only one)

An ugly thrifted frame I spray painted, took out the glass and replaced it with a modge-podged piece of magnet board. It looks so cute in the baby's room.

Also a few more of these lovely ladies...

This time for friend's one year birthdays
A bunch of bow ties for my nephews! I forgot to get pictures though! I'm so sad, hopefully I'll get some from their recipients. For now you'll just have to imagine the cuteness. This was my inspiration...
Go HERE for the know how.

I also whipped up a cute little owl for another one year birthday and forgot to get a picture before I wrapped it up and gave it away. Again use your imagination.
This is what I used as a pattern...

(Brian thought the legs were a bit too much, but I thought they were cute!)
Check out Pottery Barn Kids for a closer look.

And...this stuff has been my obsession lately...
I used it to applique cute shapes and patterns to little onesies for a baby shower (which went with a nursing cover), to create a birthday shirt (with a number one) for a birthday girl, to make some cute shirts for Eden, and even a couple shirts for me! Love it!
